NFC Printers revealed by Samsung

NFC PrintersPrinter manufacturer Samsung have revealed that they are due to release two brand new NFC Printers within the next month.

Speaking at CeBIT 2014 in Hannover, the industry giant said that these NFC Printers are specifically aimed at small-to-medium businesses [SMBs] – and will be joined by a new Samsung Cloud Print app, which features improved security.

The first of these NFC Printers is the Samsung C1860 Colour Laser Printer, while the other is the Samsung M2885 Mono Multifunction Printer.

These Samsung printers will be available as either a printer-only unit, or as a larger model coming with full MFP functionality – scanning, copying, and faxing. These NFC Printers are both A4-only, with the C1860 offering speeds of 18 pages per minute, with the M2885 delivering 28 pages per minute.

The main focus of these printers is, of course, the integration of NFC technology – allowing for simple and quick wireless printing.  To print to these NFC Printers, all users have to do is tap their NFC-ready device – a smartphone or tablet, for example – onto the printer, then it automatically connects and you’re done!

This innovative, exciting technology can add real productivity to any office, with the time saved from employees no longer having to transfer files across multiple devices.

Speaking about the introduction of these NFC Printers, Mark Ash, UK general manager for printing at Samsung, said: “As mobile becomes more central to the everyday working environment, these NFC-enabled printers let SMBs conduct their business seamlessly as well as catering for the growing BYOD trend.

“The printer will become more than just a piece of hardware that prints documents. It will become an essential solution for companies.”

Samsung have indicated that the NFC Printers will be available across Europe in April.
